I am renting a holiday flat in Emaar Beachfront and the hire car is dead. Who do I call first?
Call the hire company first, because most rental agreements require their approval for any work on the car. If they agree to a jump start or a new battery, message us with the tower and bay. A jump start is often enough for a hire car that sat for a few days while you were at the beach.
Does sea air damage a car battery?
It does not harm the inside of the battery, but salt and humidity speed up corrosion on the terminals and clamps. A crusted terminal can stop a good battery from starting the car. That is checked during the test, so you are not sold a battery when the fault is a dirty connection.
My car has been in the marina car park while I was away on the boat. Can it be started there?
Yes. Send a location pin and the technician drives to the car. After a week or two parked, a battery in good condition normally recovers with a jump start and a proper drive afterwards. If the test shows it will not hold charge, a new one is fitted on the spot and the old battery is taken away for recycling.
