A pre-purchase inspection is an independent check of a used car before you buy it. A technician goes to the car in JBR or a nearby area, scans it for fault codes, measures the paint, checks for accident and flood damage and test drives it. Book on WhatsApp or by phone, 24/7.

What's included

  • Fault code scan of the engine, gearbox, airbag, ABS and other control units
  • Paint thickness measured on every panel to find resprays and filler
  • Accident repair signs: uneven panel gaps, overspray, tool marks on bolts and fresh welds
  • Flood and sand checks: damp carpets, rust on seat rails, silt under the spare wheel
  • Engine, gearbox and AC checked cold and hot, with a look underneath for leaks
  • Car battery test, tyre age from the date code, brake wear and a road test

Signs you need it

  • The seller is in a hurry and discourages a proper look
  • The car is an import, not GCC specification
  • There is no service history, or the stamps stop a few years ago
  • Panels differ slightly in shade or the gaps between them are uneven
  • A warning light is on, or the seller says it only needs a small sensor

Pre-purchase inspection: How it works

From first message to driving away usually takes under an hour.

  1. Send the listing

Share the advert, the chassis number if the seller gives it, and the car's location on WhatsApp. We agree a time that suits the seller, ideally in daylight with the engine cold.

  2. Inspection at the car

The technician scans the control units, measures the paint on each panel, checks under the bonnet, inside and underneath as far as can be seen without a lift, then test drives it.

  3. Report on WhatsApp

You get a written list of findings with photos: what is fine, what needs attention soon and what is a reason to walk away. The decision stays with you.

Good to know in JBR

Many used cars in the UAE are imports, including cars written off abroad after accidents or floods, then repaired and resold here. They can look tidy. GCC specification cars are built for Gulf heat, with cooling and AC to suit, and imports may not be, which matters in a Dubai summer. Passing the RTA test only shows the car is roadworthy on the day. It is not a report on its history or condition. Check the chassis number history too.

Car was dead on P2 after three weeks away. Sent the tower and bay number on WhatsApp and the technician was at the car in about 25 minutes. He tested it first and showed me the printout before changing anything.

The dealership quoted me three days. These guys fitted an AGM battery in my building's basement the same evening and registered it to the car. Start-stop works again.

Honest. I was sure I needed a new battery. He jump started it, checked the alternator and told me the battery still had life in it, just drive it more. Didn't try to sell me anything.

Friday night on The Walk so it took closer to 40 minutes than 30, but they called to say so. Battery is in the boot on mine and he knew exactly where to go. Paid with Tabby.

Called at 1am after a flight. Someone answered straight away and the car was running before 2. Warranty written on the invoice, old battery taken away.

Clear about the options. Three brands that fit my car, what each one cost and how long the warranty was, all on WhatsApp before he set off. No surprises when he arrived.

Second time I've used them, different car. Same result: on time, clean job, terminals cleaned without me asking. I've saved the number.

Security at my cluster can be difficult with outside contractors. They told me exactly what to say to the gate and it went smoothly. Battery changed in twenty minutes.

Pre-purchase inspection: common questions

Can you inspect a car at the seller's building or a showroom?

Yes. The inspection is done wherever the car is, as long as the seller agrees and there is enough light and space to open the doors and bonnet. A basement bay works. We also need the seller's consent for a short test drive.

Can a mobile inspection find everything?

No inspection can, and without a lift the view underneath is limited. The scan, paint readings, leak check and test drive catch most serious problems. If something underneath looks wrong, we say so and recommend a lift inspection at a workshop before you commit.

What does GCC specification mean and why does it matter?

GCC specification cars are built for sale in the Gulf, with cooling, AC and filters suited to the heat and dust. An import from America, Japan or Europe is not automatically bad, but some arrive after insurance write-offs. A history check on the chassis number and a careful inspection matter more for those cars.
