Good to know in JBR
The catch in JBR is height. Many tower basements have a height bar at the entrance that a flatbed cannot pass. A car that will not start or roll is first moved up to street level, on wheel skates, with a jump start to release the parking brake, or behind a low tow vehicle. Can a flatbed truck get into my building's basement?
Usually not. Flatbed trucks are taller than most basement entrances allow. The car is brought out to the ramp or street first, using wheel skates, a jump start to release the parking brake, or a low tow vehicle. Send us a photo of the height sign and we plan it before arriving.
Why do all-wheel-drive and electric cars need a flatbed?
On these cars the wheels are connected to the gearbox or to electric motors. Towing with two wheels on the road turns parts that are not being lubricated or cooled, and on an EV it can drive the motor like a generator. Many makers specify flatbed transport, so check the handbook.
What do I need to do after an accident before the car is moved?
If anyone is hurt, call the emergency services first. For damage only, report it to Dubai Police, who issue the accident report by app or at the scene. Take photos, collect your belongings and registration card, and keep the report. Workshops and insurers both ask for it before repairs.
